The new Marilla Park pool opens with a splash.

Marilla Park swimming pool is a summer-day staple. But after 60 years, it was time for an update—and this May, a new Marilla pool complex opens with a splash.
“I’m really excited,” says Bree Starsick, BOPARC division director of marketing and communications. “It’s a state-of-the-art facility that is very different from our old pool.”
The new pool has so many features. Amenities you can look forward to include:
- A fenced splash pad area
- A pool with zero-grade entry, accessible for folks of all abilities, with a spray ground
- A wraparound lazy river
- A deep well and lap pool
- Three slides
Unlike the old pool, which offered little refuge from the sun, the new location is canopied with tree coverage. It also boasts a shaded area with lounge chairs, picnic tables with large umbrellas, and a sizable covered pavilion that will be available to the public for weekend rentals.
And because a pool day always works up an appetite, a concession stand will sell refreshments. BOPARC also plans to partner with food trucks to provide options for all different taste buds.
The new pool complex is in a new location in the upper park, and BOPARC has plans for the entire lower park, where the old pool was. “We decided since we’re taking out the pool and a lot of our facilities are around that 20- to 60-year age, it was time to ask ourselves: What can we do to keep our park and facilities up to date?” says Starsick. Upgrades to lower Marilla Park will be put in place over the coming year.
The new pool will be open Memorial Day weekend, May 24, 25, and 26, and then it opens with a cannonball for the season on Saturday, May 31.
Admission will be free for children under 3, $8 for youth 3–17 and seniors 55-plus, and $10 for adults 18–54. For folks eyeing the big, bright, swirly slides, unlike at the old pool, where an additional fee was charged, admission at the new pool includes all three slides. Those who prefer the feel of a conventional large-area pool can still find that at Krepps Park, Starsick says. Admission there will be $6 for youth and seniors this year and $8 for adults.
Swimmers can reserve passes in advance on the BOPARC website and enter with a quick QR code scan.
See you poolside!
