Explore a fairy-filled land with the whole family.

Complete with a Fairy Garden and Labyrinth, the West Virginia Botanic Garden is a magical experience every day of the year. But come May 8–9, the WVBG is going to dial up the whimsy for a special guest: Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse, a Netflix cartoon series by DreamWorks Animation. Join Gabby for a day at the garden to celebrate the Gabby’s Dollhouse Fairylandia Tour.
Only 12 botanical gardens across the country were selected for the tour, which spans three months and stops at places like the New York Botanical Garden and the San Francisco Botanical Garden. According to WVBG Executive Director Phillip Smith, it was an exciting moment for WVBG staff and volunteers when KidsGardening and DreamWorks reached out to invite the WVBG to be the second stop on the tour.

Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of plans getting the garden ready for its special guests.
Families will have a slew of activities to choose from during their selected time slots. Each child will receive an activity booklet brimming with temporary tattoos and watercolor sheets, as well as a button. From there, they can craft a Kitty Fairy crown and a terrarium, then have a meet and greet with the Gabby costume character outfitted in her Fairylandia-themed attire.
“The plant collections and amenities of the Garden have created many special individual stories for many, and this will be yet another story, especially for the little ones,” says Smith.
To make things extra magical, May 9 also marks the observance of West Virginia Botanic Garden Day.
There will be a $10 parking fee per car, so carpooling is encouraged. If an entire preschool class wants to attend, Friday is your best bet for registration. Register online while tickets are still available, and get ready to join Gabby at the garden.
