Let the good times roll this season with Morgantown’s best happy hours.
We get it. Sometimes the weather is just too cold, the cabin fever creeping in, the holiday rush too stressful. You need a break—preferably, right after work. Morgantown has you covered. When it’s time to get out, stay warm, and de-stress with friends and coworkers, the city offers a wide range of happy hour drink and food options that are guaranteed to rejuvenate. Here are some of our favorites, ranging from upscale dining rooms to sports bars.
Table 9
Nearly every wall at Table 9 on the Mon River is a full-length window, ensuring that you get to savor every last minute of winter’s fading daylight. Chef Mark Tasker is dedicated to the mastery of New American cuisine and, while Table 9 does offer drink specials, it’s the one-of-a-kind dishes that make this happy hour shine.
Monday through Friday, 4–7 p.m.
Get $1 off beer and wine and half off appetizers—they’re called “snacks” on the menu—that go beyond typical pub fare. Offerings include garlic aioli with sriracha fries, crispy brussels sprouts with hollandaise, fried pickles with smoked verde, and yellowfin tuna tostadas.
Thursday happy hours will be especially attractive to wine lovers. In addition to the specials above, get a flight of three wines for only $10. Wines rotate weekly, so there’s always something new to try.
Varsity Club
Located right across from the stadium on Willowdale, this is a retreat for the true WVU fan. The walls of Varsity Club are covered in Mountaineer memorabilia. Take all the history in, watch your favorite sports channel on one of their many screens, or just enjoy the happy hours (plural!).
Monday through Thursday, 2–4 p.m.
Varsity Club’s “Pre-Mature” happy hour may be the best overall deal on our list. All draughts, including their craft beer of the week, and all appetizers are half off.
Monday through Friday, 4–7 p.m.
The good times continue with $1 off draught beer, 50 cents off bottled beer, and $1 off all appetizers.
Atria’s
Just up the street from Mountaineer Field, Atria’s comfortable booths, rich wood, and leather upholstery set an upscale tone. Ten beers on tap and two full liquor bars offer plenty of options. Atria’s does not discount drinks, but it makes our list for offering distinctive food specials six days a week.
Need a holiday gift that gives back? Atria’s offers $10 gift cards to shoppers who purchase $50 worth this holiday season and a $25 card to those who purchase $100.
Sunday through Friday, 4–6 p.m., enjoy a wide array of unique appetizers, including fried zucchini, reuben sliders, angus sliders, and pulled pork nachos for $5.49. For the same price, there is also a daily chef’s flatbread special.
Kegler’s Sports Bar & Lounge
Kegler’s is a haven for sports fanatics, and for good reason: The place is loaded with more than 20 high-definition screens, including three 80″ screens. You can find an updated schedule of every game that will be aired—from football to soccer to golf—on its website daily. This is classic pub fare on a rotating schedule. Kegler’s saves the best deals for the end of the week, and the Friday happy hour is especially well-attended.
Monday, 3–6 p.m.
“Beat the clock” wings are 50 cents each
Tuesday, 4 p.m.–close
40 cent buffalo thighs all night
Wednesday, 5–7 p.m.
All you can eat baby back ribs for $10.95
Thursday, 4–7 p.m.

Bourbon Prime
This relatively new addition to the Morgantown scene offers chic décor and a bar stocked with premium drinks: vintage spirits, fine wines, and of course, lots of bourbon. But Bourbon Prime makes our list for its unique happy hour food specials. Warm up with a splash of Woodford Reserve and these unusual offerings.
Monday through Friday, 4–7 p.m.
Check out Bourbon Prime’s “4-5-6” happy hour that rewards the early bird with lemon hummus, personal caprese pizzas, pepperoni rolls, or large pub pretzels for $4 during the 4:00 hour, $5 during the 5:00 hour, and $6 until 7 p.m.
Montmartre
Montmartre can be found on the 8th floor of the historic Clarion Hotel Morgan on High Street. This fine-dining staple is best known for its view of Morgantown from the rooftop terrace, but the upscale ambiance continues year-round in the dining room.
Monday through Thursday, 5–7 p.m.
All house wines are $5/glass, and call drinks—mixed drinks made with brands of your choice—are two for the price of one. Looking for an appetizer to tide you over ’til that late dinner? Try Montmartre’s half-priced potstickers, a $5 soup du jour, or 60 cent wings.
