No tricks—just Halloween-season fun.

Listen: Any other time of year, we would tell you not to walk up to a stranger’s car just because they’re giving out free candy. But it’s October, and that means ’tis the season for trunk-or-treats. Maybe stick to the organized events, though—for our peace of mind.

Lots of trunk-or-treat events are open to businesses and community members to join in and hand out candy from their trunks. Costumes and trunk decorating are both encouraged, so check the event pages to find the details, contact the hosts, and join in on the fun.

The city’s regularly scheduled trick or treating takes on Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. But there are lots of options in the weeks leading up to that, including several commercial-district trick or treat events. We’ve arranged them in a tidy itinerary:
