The West Virginia Botanic Garden’s gift shop has something for all of the nature lovers on your list.
If you haven’t been to the West Virginia Botanic Garden’s Visitors Center, new in 2024, and browsed its gift shop, you’re missing out on some interesting holiday gift possibilities. Items on offer span a wide range of nature-related interests and price points—and your purchase supports the always ongoing additions to trails and amenities at the WVBG.
“We’re a nonprofit, grassroots operation that runs on donations, grants, and such,” says Visitors Center Manager Jasmine Allison. “Supporting the gift shop benefits the garden.”
Pro tip: Join the WVBG when you check out for just $35. It gets you a 10% discount on almost everything in the shop, Allison says. And because the WVBG is part of the American Horticultural Society’s Garden Network, your membership also gets you free entry and other discounts at places like Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio, Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina, and nearly 400 other public gardens across North America. Membership is also a great gift in itself!
The WVBG Visitors Center is open Thursday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., through Sunday, December 22. It will be on limited hours in January and February, Allison say, then back to its regular operating hours in the spring. Keep your eyes open for the addition of a cafe in 2025.
