There are lots of places around Morgantown to catch a movie outdoors this summer. Find free movies right in town several more Saturdays to come—or catch a double feature any weekend at one of three mid-century drive-in theaters still operating within an hour’s drive of town.
Mon Health Movies Among the Mountains shows family flicks for free at the Mylan Park Track Complex. This Saturday’s movie, on July 2, Captain America: Civil War, shows at 2:30—the remainder of the summer schedule shows at 7 p.m.: Space Jam: A New Legacy on July 9, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings on July 23, and Luca on August 6.
Sunset Drive-In Theater in Shinnston, West Virginia (45m), offers up double features Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through the summer. Cash only. The theater’s Facebook page isn’t maintained these days, but they’re rolling film—check the website in the later part of each week for the weekend’s showings.
Erwin’s Comet Drive-In Theatre in Connellsville, Pennsylvania (45m), is showing a double feature every Friday through Sunday this summer. Box office and concessions are cash-only.
Check out Brownsville Drive-In in Grindstone, Pennsylvania (45 minutes)—and this one is a special treat if your work schedule puts your weekend on Monday or Tuesday. Double features play here on three screens every Friday through Tuesday. Cash only!
Evergreen Drive-In Theatre in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania (1h), offers double features on three screens. Cash-only at the box office, credit accepted at concession stand. The website is the best place to check this theater’s coming attractions.
