A Face of Service

What makes our community special? It’s the people. People whose passion for their roles at work, in their volunteer lives, and in their homes stands out. They make up the unique color and character of life in Morgantown. Here we share a few stories behind the faces of people who make our community a better place.

There’s so much more to Dino Colombo than a law degree. He’s definitely a well-respected lawyer, but he’s also become a fixture in the community, known for his genuine good nature and his care for others.
For more than 30 years, Colombo has championed the rights of those injured in truck and commercial vehicle accidents. But his impact goes beyond the courtroom. He and his wife have raised two children—a son who works alongside him at Colombo Law and a daughter who soars the friendly skies as a commercial airline pilot. A family man at heart, he prioritizes peace and quality time with his loved ones.
His true community spirit shone brightly during the COVID-19 pandemic. His innovative “Smile Break” commercials, originally meant as a lighthearted escape during political ad season, became a source of comfort and joy during a difficult time. The commercials garnered heartfelt responses and even donations to local charities. He continues airing them even today.
“The truth is, everyone loves a baby, a puppy, or a kitten. It’s just something that connects all of us. This is really what we’re trying to do with these spots. I’m trying to give back to people with no expectation of anything in return. If you look at these spots, many of them never ask anyone to call Colombo Law. They’re simply saying ‘I know you need a break and some peace in your life.’ The world needs more of that—and providing that to people will always be a huge part of what I do.”
Colombo feels a need to serve others and support the Morgantown community in any way he can. He appreciates the vibrancy here, the educational opportunities, and the supportive atmosphere.
“I believe Morgantown is the best place to live. People are connected to each other, help each other, and there’s always something fresh happening. I’ll keep doing whatever small things I can do to make it even better, and I hope people remember me first, as a Christian who loves Jesus Christ, and second, as a person who gave back with no expectation of getting anything in return.”
