Morgantown has an active live music scene—between 123 Pleasant Street, The Encore, Tipsy Teeze, and The Metropolitan Theatre, you can always find something you’ll like coming up soon. But if February has you itching to get out of town, here’s a list of venues not far down the road.
Sagebrush Round-Up at the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame
Fairmont, 30 minutes
Just six miles east of I-79, Sagebrush Round-Up hosts a weekly Saturday show featuring local and regional talent, complete with a dance floor. Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner is served at 5, and the music kicks off at 6. Home to the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the venue is tobacco- and alcohol-free and family-friendly.
Brickside Bar & Grille
Bridgeport, 45 minutes
With a welcoming atmosphere and outdoor patio, Brickside Bar & Grille is the perfect spot to throw back a cold one and watch the game. It hosts live music every Saturday and has a full bar and a menu with all your favorite burgers, sandwiches, and salads.
Honi Honi Bar
Deep Creek Lake, 1 hour
Who doesn’t love lakeside vibes? Honi Honi Bar on Deep Creek Lake feels like the tropics, even in wintertime. A wide variety of beers on tap and live music complete the scene. The tiki theme of this laid-back slice of paradise is a true antidote to cabin fever.
Waterfront Hall

Located right on the Ohio river in a beautifully restored historic building, Waterfront Hall is a revitalized live music venue and an extraordinary night on the town. A weekly line-up of diverse bands is yours to enjoy. With two restaurants inside, a full bar, and history galore, the Waterfront serves up an evening that’s well worth the drive.
The Purple Fiddle

On Thomas’s renowned Main Street is a groovy spot for enjoying delicious food and live Appalachian roots music. Built in 1915, the former DePollo grocery store has a tremendously high ceiling that is great for sound. The old building itself makes you feel like you’re some place special. Beers on tap and gluten-free options are on the menu. Take the kids!
