Mikee Krieg and Jennifer Walker worked together in two places before deciding it was time to go into business together focusing on women’s maternal health and mental health. “And that’s exactly what we did in 2013,” Walker says. The pair started out sharing one office together and were amazed at how quickly their practice grew. They expanded further by opening Children in Balance in 2015 and now have more than a dozen employees. Krieg and Walker take pride in having created a clinic that doesn’t feel very clinical. “It’s homey and spa-like, very inviting and warm,” Krieg says.

With several offices in northern West Virginia and western Pennsylvania, Harmony follows a mission to provide “high-quality mental health care to the communities that helped raise us.” The clinics offer a wide range of services aimed at restoring balance and achieving greater well-being. The staff—most West Virginia University graduates—includes psychiatrists and therapists who specialize in treatment modalities for anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, substance abuse, and more. You can even undergo neuropsychological testing to better understand the relationship between your physiology and behavior, a testing method that is especially useful for patients dealing with treatment-resistant depression, neuropathic pain, and a variety of other mental issues.
