In the fall of 2019, real estate agents Angela Mayfield and Heather Wallace decided to up the game in Morgantown and started a staging enterprise—DropCloth & Co. “We approach it with our combined 20 years’ real estate background. And we’re not photographers, but we know where the money shots are.” Staging plays into the emotional aspect of buying a house, Mayfield says. “If a buyer walks in and instantly feels at home, they can see themselves living there.” The pair had only staged two homes when COVID-19 hit in early 2020. But the subsequent real estate boom—along with everyone’s extra home-time and the urge to redecorate that followed—jump-started the business. DropCloth & Co. does everything from color consultations to major renovations. “We’re inexpensive for what we do,” Wallace says. “A lot of times we can come in with a consult and give you a list, and you can do it for yourself.”
