Hoot & Howl
voted best gift shop + Best Place to buy west virginia-made products

As a lifelong maker herself—of jewelry, upcycled vintage, and more—Stephanie Swaim wanted to offer the community a shop focused on products by West Virginia creatives. Morgantown fell in love with Hoot and Howl when it opened four years ago, and the boutique has only gotten better since. Nearly 90 of the boutique’s 180 artists are West Virginians.
Browsing the shelves at Hoot and Howl is a textured and inspiring experience. Recent popular items include Fire Cider immunity tonic and Spiced Elderberry Syrup from Valkyrie Springs in Capon Bridge and West Virginia trays and cutting boards from Z and Z Woodcrafters in Lumberport. Stop by the shop to catch one of the frequent pop-up maker parties or, if you can’t get downtown, shop online—one-of-a-kind and limited-edition items sometimes sell out within hours, and new items are stocked all the time.
This is why Hoot & Howl was voted best gift shop + best place to buy West Virginia-made Products.
