Catered events were fewer in 2020, but Morgantown’s long affection for executive chef Tommy Thompson and his wife, Tasia—we still miss their downtown restaurants Madeleine’s and Golden Finch—voted their Madeleine Marie’s Catering BOM Best Caterer for a second year in a row. Clients who did hold catered events in 2020 typically cut down the number of guests, held their events outside, and chose to give guests individual packaged meals, Tasia Thompson says. Madeleine Marie’s worked with client preferences, providing catered meals either for pick-up or delivered and set up but not served. And to keep the lights on in their Greenmont kitchen and restaurant, they focused on carryout, with themed weeks like seafood, barbecue, and Polish to keep things interesting. Kitchen-weary customers have appreciated the variety.
