Live music didn’t die in Morgantown in 2020—123 Pleasant Street made sure of that. The beloved nightclub kept it alive and well, hosting stage performances, rooftop shows, and behind-the-bar cameos of favorite performers and pushing it all to Facebook. 123 celebrated its 22nd birthday in December 2020 with a six-hour livestream of performances of all genres in spots all over the storied venue—including the couch, the piano in the front window that this longtime fan has never heard played, and even in the walk-in refrigerator. Keeping Morgantown weird through the pandemic—just one of the reasons readers voted 123 Pleasant Street Best Music Venue for the fourth time and can’t wait to get back in there in 2021.
