A Morgantown magazine Mover & Shaper, Health Care Edition.

From frontline hospital staff to indie acupuncturists, trauma therapists, and bodyworkers carving their own paths, our Movers & Shapers Health Care Edition brings you wellness professionals who are redefining what health looks like in this town.
For Morgantown personal trainer Micki Whiteman, fitness isn’t just about reps and sets—it’s about cultivating a lifestyle. The ISSA-certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist founded Warrior Body in 2014, a group fitness program that began at Viking Performance Training and has since grown into its own Morgantown location. Her classes, known for challenging workouts and a supportive community, emphasize mental fortitude as much as physical strength. She says that, when her “warriors” learn just how strong their minds can be, everything begins falling into place.
“People reach a point where they get excited about feeling better,” she says. “Fitness is only one piece of the puzzle to start the trickle-down effect. It serves as a placeholder for them to begin becoming whoever they want to be. It’s so cool to witness people transform in this way.”
Whiteman says her facility tries to teach longevity and that you have to make each workout count and to help her clients learn how to push themselves. “The goal is to make them feel like they can almost take over the world,” she says.
