True Colors: Picturing Identity

This exhibition features selections from the New York collection of James Cottrell and Joseph Lovett seen for the first time in West Virginia, including major works by Keith Haring, Deborah Kass, Robert Mapplethorpe, Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, and others. The show considers the ways contemporary artists use the human figure in painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and photography to explore and express personal and collective identities. Free

West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival

Celebrate the art of filmmaking with this competitive screening of more than 100 films from around the world along with short films created by WVU students and regional filmmakers. Genres and formats include narrative, documentary, traditional and 3-D animation, video art, experimental, comedy, and sci-fi. Friday evening screenings at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center, Saturday at the WVU Mountainlair Gluck Theatre, and Saturday night at Morgantown Art Party, 218 Walnut Street. Free.

Second Annual Touch the Earth Festival
