If it was one of your New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier and more locally grown foods, you’ve got lots of options: farmers markets, community supported agriculture—and now, The Family Cow.

Each option has its advantages. Farmers markets are an easy source of fresh local foods for lots of people, and community supported agriculture works well for others—you can read about Morgantown-area CSAs here. But you don’t always know what will be available at the former or what will arrive from the latter.

If you prefer a meal plan or shop for picky eaters, The Family Cow’s pick-up model may work better for you. Here’s how it works:

It’s as simple as that!

Beyond the simplicity of the process, everything from The Family Cow is USDA-certified organic. Everything is soy-free, too, and all but the goat milk and cheese are corn-free, a plus for people who are sensitive to soy and corn. The animals live large: Hens and turkeys roam organic pastures and are moved to new grass daily, while meat chickens and cows are moved to new grass twice per day. And the surprisingly broad product selection includes cheeses, milk kefir grains, kombucha SCOBYs, water kefir, holistic wildflower honey, sauerkraut, kimchi, and more—plenty of unique products you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

One more plus: If you’ve been searching for a supplier of lab-tested raw milk, The Family Cow was a pioneer in on-farm raw milk food safety testing and could be what you’re looking for.
