Five Great Places to Watch the Away Game

When the Mountaineers are away and you still want to play, head to one of these great places to catch the game.

Kegler’s Sports Bar & Grille wins Best of Morgantown Best Sports Bar year after year and, with its great pub menu and more than 20 HDTVs, it’s no secret why. They’re an old favorite (735 Chestnut Ridge Road). But for a change of pace and a new-ish to the scene favorite of ours, head out to Scorers. They have screens everywhere, a wide selection of drinks, and a great menu, too, so you’re sure to have a ball (201 Holland Avenue).

Watch the game on one of eleven TVs at Crockett’s Lodge. Try the Parkersburger and wash it down with an ice cold beer (3395 University Avenue). For another favorite of ours, head to The Varsity Club for a full set-up of wall-to-wall TVs. You’ll feel right at home next to Milan Puskar Stadium (910 Don Nehlen Drive).

Enjoy the kickoff and a classic quaff at Mario’s Fishbowl. They’ve been serving their frosty goblets for almost 70 years and have the vibes of a true neighborhood bar at both locations (704 Richwood Avenue and 3117 University Avenue).

And because we couldn’t limit ourselves to just five, here are two bonus places to watch the game.

For Mountaineer Tap House, beer is the number one draft pick. Try the pretzel sticks and buffalo chicken dip for yummy game-day grub. The Tap House also rotates 40 different beers that would delight even the biggest beer connoisseur and is 100 percent fun (453 Oakland Street).

At Sabraton Station the tradition of good food, good times, and good friends continues. For a drinkery with lots of fun and character that’s known for its community-centered atmosphere, check out the Station (1632 Deckers Creek Road).

Even when you can’t tailgate, you can still feel tailgreat at one of these fun spots to catch the game. Let’s go, Mountaineers!
