A New Way to Dine

Mix things up with Lit Pot.

Love to cook but hate to wash dishes? Enjoy the former without the latter at the Suncrest Towne Centre’s newest restaurant: Lit Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot. It’s not your typical dining experience—here’s an explainer.

You take a seat at a communal table alongside strangers or friends, or you’re seated at a private booth. Each table features several personal pots and a grill. That’s when you make your choice: Korean barbecue, or hot pot? You can choose both, but don’t get too ambitious—in the interest of preventing food waste, a fee will be added per pound of unfinished food.

From there, it’s all about choosing the ingredients for your perfect meal. With around 100 ingredients between the two menus, it’s not an easy decision—so take the opportunity to try something new and experiment. Ramen, bok choy, corn, and fatty beef boiled in chicken broth, for example. Or, barbecued spicy chicken bulgogi with pineapple and white rice. The possibilities are endless.

After placing your order with the server, they’ll bring the raw ingredients directly to your table, along with tongs and soup spoons. Cooking instructions are right there on the wall by your table. Boiling raw meat for just 30 seconds might sound like a one-way ticket to food poisoning, but ingredients are sliced thinly to ensure fast, even cooking. The concept of hot pot has existed for hundreds of years across various cultures, so it’s safe to say the practice has been fine-tuned by this point.

You might be wondering, “Why would I go to a restaurant where I have to cook my own food?” Because it’s fun! Hot pot and Korean barbecue have been growing in popularity thanks to the interactive, fully customizable nature of the experience. It’s also about the social aspect and scheming with your friends to curate the perfect meal for everyone.

It’s great to sit down with someone you love for a nice meal, but it’s also great to mix it up once in a while—Lit Pot is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for mixing things up.
