Bring your gal pals to Tropics on Friday, May 20, for Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center’s 14th annual Girls’ Night Out.
Take an after-work girls’ trip to a tropical paradise right here in Morgantown from 6 to 10 p.m. this Friday, May 20. Tropics Restaurant and Bar in Cheat Lake—a restaurant that boasts several Best of Morgantown awards—is the destination. The 14th annual Girls’ Night Out, a fundraising event sponsored by Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center, is the occasion. “This is our first time back in two years,” says Taylor Shultz, MCCAC’s Community Engagement Coordinator, “and this is the first time the event is going to be held at Tropics.”
On this Girls’ Night Out, you and your gal pals will enjoy a Hawaiian buffet dinner, which you can pair with one —or a few—of Tropics’ signature drinks. Afterward, make sure to check out the dessert menu, the dance floor, and all of the other activities.
“You’ll have the opportunity to get pampered on your night out,” says Shultz. So, if you’re in need of some self-care, you’re in luck. Your admission includes access to several pampering service providers who you can visit for hand massages, tarot card readings, and more. And later in the evening, you can sit back and enjoy live music from the band Casanova & the Divas.
But this Girls’ Night Out isn’t just about having fun—it’s about giving back to your community, too. That’s why all proceeds from the event will directly support MCCAC. “Our mission at MCCAC,” says Shultz, “is to advocate for kids who’ve been abused or had other significant adverse childhood experiences. We provide a place where children and families can be interviewed, educated, and healed.”
MCCAC’s executive director, Laura Capage, as well as local author and body safety educator Diane Tarantini will speak at the event. “Tarantini wrote a children’s book called The Brave Knight,” says Shultz. “It tells a fantasy story and talks about grooming in an age-appropriate way.” Click here to learn more about Tarantini and her book.
Purchase tickets to Girls’ Night Out online or at the door. The price is $100 per person and includes your Hawaiian buffet dinner, access to pampering providers, auctions, and entertainment.
